Message from the Leading Teacher
Is it just me, or has there been a sudden change in the weather? Goodbye to that glorious Autumn mild temperature, Melbourne Winter has well and truly arrived! The cooler weather means the winter jumpers and jackets are back in full swing. It also is the season where jumpers and jackets tend to get lost. Don’t forget to label your child’s clothes, that way they usually find their way back home.
We have had a busy few weeks at school, from excursions and incursions to District Sports and Pizza Day. A highlight last week was welcoming parents and carers into the classrooms for our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) opening morning. I am extremely lucky in my role and I get to be involved in teaching and learning across the school, and regularly visit and work in classrooms from Foundation to Year 6. It is great to see the teaching and learning in the STEM space at RPS throughout the classrooms and the students develop their skills in questioning, creativity, communication, collaboration and problem solving.
A reminder of a few upcoming important dates this term

Cyber Safety Incursion
As part of our school’s commitment to becoming an eSmart School we are required to build our student’s knowledge on how to be safe in the cyber world. This is also a requirement of the Department of Education’s Child Safe policies.
We have engaged the Cyber Safety Project to deliver an incursion on Tuesday 18th of June. Each year level will be attending this incursion in separate sessions, targeted towards their learning needs.
The cost of the incursion is $13, consent and payment can be made through Compass by Monday 17 June.

STEM Open Morning and Pizza Day
On Thursday 30th May B´ÎÔª held an open morning. This year’s theme, Spotlight on STEM, highlighted the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in our everyday lives, in the classroom and beyond. On this day we also held our second Pizza Day for 2024. A big thank you to The Royal Saxon for providing the dough and Luke for his support running the day.
News from Year 5/6
In Reading and Writing students have been learning about the features of a Procedural texts, as well as analysing debates. We can’t wait to watch these in action. In Maths, students have been learning about prime, composite, factors and multiples, and learning about division and exponents indices.
In Inquiry, the students have been working on science reports to take action, and beginning to start their individual projects.
On the 30th of May, we held our termly pizza day, raising over $1300 for the Year 6 Graduation. Thanks to everyone that helped Luke during the day, and supported the event.
