Message from the Assistant Principal
Time Flies When You’re Having Fun….or Working Hard.
Wow it has been a busy couple of weeks at RPS, as it always seems to be! Just in the last few days we have had Pizza Day, Local State member visit, our fabulous Welcome BBQ, not to mention the countless hours of learning and fun in the classrooms!
First off, I would like to say a huge congratulations and thank you to Kristy and her wonderful team of volunteers for another super successful Welcome BBQ. It was great to see so many families mingling and enjoying the festivities. The slip and slide was a roaring success judging by the leftover bathers, underwear and socks!
Pizza Day was another super successful day…so much so that an emergency run to Coles was needed to satisfy some hungry students. Well done to our Grade Sixes and Harriet for their hard work cooking up a storm! Another big shout out and thank you goes to the Royal Saxon who are once again jumping on board and donating the pizza bases to our cause each pizza day this year.
Today, we also had a visit from Gabrielle de Vietri, our local state parliament member for Richmond. Gabrielle had a tour of our school and was interested in hearing about our progress on the building works and if there was anything else we needed. I know you are all as excited as I am about the project, so please stay tuned as we will have some more information about our works for you very soon.
NAPLAN
Next week, along with every other school in the country, we will be conducting NAPLAN.
NAPLAN – The National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy is an annual national assessment for all students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9.
The NAPLAN online test window starts on Wednesday March 13 to Friday March 15.
NAPLAN is comprised of 4 tests – Reading, Writing, Conventions of Language (Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation) and Numeracy. These are single tests that give a snapshot of a students achievement on one day.
We always do keep in mind though that assessments like NAPLAN target particular areas, and do not necessarily assess your child as a whole and what makes your child special and unique.
For some students NAPLAN can be a very stressful experience and if you believe this may not be appropriate for your child for any reason please let me know ASAP and we can discuss options that are available.
Kind Regards,
Russell Sivewright

5/6 Wellbeing Plushies!
In Visual Arts this term the 5/6 students have been designing and sewing their own wellbeing plushies. I was so impressed with their enthusiasm and how quickly the students picked up the skill of hand sewing which resulted in amazing plushies!
